Giving From Investments

If you are age 72 or older and have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you have reached that milestone where you must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). The distribution may increase your taxable income and require you to pay taxes on this previously untaxed asset. The IRA Charitable Rollover, also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, allows you to gift your RMD to charity, which omits the distribution from your income and allows you to avoid paying the tax.
